The fabulous Fanta Bale has eclipsed $1M in prize money after an outstanding win in last night’s group 1 Bold Trease.
As expected Fanta Bale stepped well out of box 3 but was immediately challenged by interstate rivals Petunia Monelli and Champagne Sally. When the race was up for grabs Australia’s premier stayer Fanta Bale rose to the occasion asserting control down the back straight. She soon bounded clear and went on to win by 3¼ lengths from gallant rank outsider Packey Keeping in 41.98.
“She was held up for a long way until she found a gap going down the back. I think the fact she was held up for so long gave her more gas in the tank. It just shows she can do it at both ends,” trainer Rob Britton told RSN927’s Andrew Kuuse and Simone Fisher.
The $100,000 first prize took her earnings tally to $1,094,170, joining Fernando Bale and Dyna Double One in the magical million dollar club. Although a massive achievement in itself, Britton says it’s the racing titles that he is most proud of.
“With the million dollars it was more relief than anything else. Winning the Bold Trease, to me that’s the biggest thing.
“The fact that she’s been in seven group 1’s and won them all, that’s the achievement that will always live with me.”
Fanta Bale’s needs one more win at the highest level to equal Fernando Bale’s chest of eight career group 1 wins.
There are often murmurings surrounding how long Fanta Bale’s racing career will continue with an inevitable breeding career ahead of her. Fortunately for fans and the sport, there are no imminent plans of retirement.
Her next assignment will be next Saturday’s Summer Cup heats at Wentworth Park, before heading to the Sale Cup later in December.
